They also tend to differ because of the infrastructure that supports cellular services. There is much more competition in the cellular market due to the fact that different companies can set up towers to transmit their cellular services. Due to this fact, there are many different companies using many different networks that can offer many more options than what is available with traditional landline services.
Lastly, there is the telephone service known as VoIP. VoIP stands for voice over internet protocol. This kind of phone service does not use its own infrastructure like landline and cellular phone services. Instead, VoIP uses a person�s existing internet service to transmit telephone services. It works with both cable internet and DSL.
For VoIP to work, something called an analog telephone adaptor needs to be obtained. This allows a person to connect their phone to their cable or DSL modem. Due to this fact, internet services and VoIP telephone services can often be bought together as part of a package deal.
