I leave mine on almost all day everyday and it still makes me fresh coffee whenever I turn it on. I don't think there are any dangers of leaving it on so long unless you have it confined and something that may catch fire very close to it.
I tried this with a kettle (not on purpose) and there were GREEN FLAMES underneath it (which sort of made me panic) and the bottom coating of the kettle started peeling off to show the copper beneath it. Needless to say, the parents weren't impressed.
Not worth trying it, although it did make a pretty cool flame...
When you are making coffee at home, sometimes the glass coffee container may crack.
