In each of the cytokinesis events in meiosis, asymetrical division of cytoplasm and organelles ensure that only one daughter cell receives all the necessities to continue in the process. Therefore only one daughter cell will proceed after meiosis I (the other becomes a polar body that may or may not continue on with meiosis) and only one daughter cell will proceed after meiosis II (the other becomes a polar body).
