CNA is a much shorter amount of training and you wouldn't be able to do all the things a RN does. Many people become CNA's on the way to getting their RN because it is a good way to get on the job experience.

Is it wise to start training as a CNA before training for RN?
if you want to become an RN and for some reason you are reluctant to join the RN classes then its a good idea to start your career as a CNA. CNA training classes take between 2 - 4 weeks and you can get a job almost immediately. The good thing about starting your career as a CNA would be that it will help you better understand your roles and responsibilities in the medical field. if you are a kind and caring person you should be able to do good and advance your career to become a RN. all in all you should consider CNA as a stepping stone into the medical career field and after that the possibilities are endless. What order is from cna to rn?
It would be very helpful to take your CNA before your RN...I am currently in my CNA class and I also jobshadow at the hospital with my cousin that is an RN. So I get to see if from both ways and it does help a lot when I am following my cousin around and only being 17 and knowing all the medical terms is also quite helpful so she doesn't have to re-explain everything in a "watered down" language.
