The Panama Canal is without doubt one of mankind’s greatest achievements. The canal does more than just connect two oceans; it makes it possible for ships to travel from one side of the continent to the other without making the long and time-intensive trip down around the southernmost tip of South America. But a Panama Canal cruise is about more than admiring this engineering marvel, although that is part of it.
When you take a cruise through the Panama Canal, you will see many other things as well. The exact itinerary will vary depending on which cruise you take and which cruise line you choose. If you choose Holland America, you will likely end up on their private island, Half Moon Cay, at some point during the trip.
Other things you might do on a Panama Canal cruise with Holland America include exploring the Incan and Mayan ruins and spending some time in the rain forests of Costa Rica. You might learn about Guatemala’s history or see the volcanoes of Ecuador.
Holland America offers Panama Canal vacation cruises ranging from 10 days to 28 days long, with cruises embarking and disembarking from Vancouver, Seattle, San Diego, Los Angeles, Tampa and Fort Lauderdale with numerous ports of call along the way. At many of these stops, there are several shore excursions to choose from. For example, in Acapulco there are 21 choices including a city tour with cliff divers, a dolphin adventure and a chance to get cooking tips from a distinguished Mexican chef.
You can take a ride on the Atlantis Submarine at Grand Cayman, learn to scuba dive, go on a trail ride on horseback or look down at the reefs from a glass-bottom boat. Perhaps you’d prefer to see the caves and jungles of Belize or visit a wildlife sanctuary that is home to more than 360 different species of birds. All of these are examples of the many shore excursions you can choose to take while you are enjoying your Panama Canal cruise.
because the panama canal has a beautiful viewing and is just the place to be.
I can not see any connection of the Panama Canal to manifest destiny. The dream of manifest destiny was actualized long before anybody had any serious hope building a canal across Panama.

The Panama Canal and the surrounding areas around it is as clean as it can be. They enforce littering laws strongly, if a Police personnel or a park enforcement officer see you trowing a piece of paper or food or even a cigarette butt on the ground, you will get at least a $50.00 fine payable immediately by debit or credit card, if you cant pay they take you to one of the police precinct to record you until you pay the fine. Yes it is strongly enforced. The Panama canal is one of the cleanest places on earth, so is the Capital of Panama.
A boat traveling from the Pacific to the Atlantic via the Panama Canal would be traveling northwest. Although the Pacific Ocean is west of the Atlantic Ocean in Central America, at Panama the Caribbean Sea arm of the Atlantic is to the north, and the Pacific to the south. Canal builders took advantage of natural lakes and valleys, so the actual orientation of the canal is NW to SE. (see linked map) Going from the Atlantic (Caribbean Sea) to the Pacific, ships travel to the southeast.

Costa Rica's neighbor, Panama, offers most of what Costa Rica has, or more, from natural splendor to friendly people and many find Panama's prices more affordable and her infrastructure, including roads, in better shape. And of course, having the famous canal makes it special as well.
You can see Tom Cruise in movies and on TV.

I assume so. John McCain ran for president, and he was born in the Panama Canal Zone. And no one asked to see his birth certificate, either.
