In today's high stress society, ocassional bouts with the Blues or feeling a bit vacant and sad within is an inevitable occurrence. Yet, many of us are unaware of how to recognize when this common feeling of the blues has progressed to full blown depression. Many dealing with depression have a view of the world as a gloomy or doomed place and feel little to no reason to strive in life and sometimes to live at all. It's important to know the signs and symptoms of depression, especially in an intimate partner, so that help can be sought for this often devastating disease.
There are several signs to look out for when Depression is suspected in a mate or partner. Many of these symptoms are tell-tale and give a strong suggestion of the disease, yet Depression can look different for everyone suffering from it.
The husband/wife or partner suffering from Depression may:
-Sleep too much or be lacking in sleep. This can manifest as insomnia with frequent wakefulness in the early morning hours or as hypersomnia where sleep exceeds the normal need for rest in a healthy adult.
-Have an overall feeling of hopelessness and a bleak take on reality.
-Suffer a loss of interest for daily activities such as hobbies, and other activities that formerly gave pleasure to the individual.
-Be persistently irritable or angry resulting in a short temper and tolerance for others, particularly the mate or those closest to the person.
-Suffer self-hatred or loathing and exhibit a very low self-image or esteem.
-Exhibit reckless behavior resulting in habits such as drug abuse, reckless driving, and Alcoholism, among others.
Depression is a major factor in suicide and many times seems like the only way to eliminate the pain and suffering that they feel. When it's a mate that is depressed it's especially important to take notice for it is often difficult for someone suffering from this illness to maintain healthy relationships of any sort. Whenever one or more of these symptoms are present in a partner, it's necessary to determine whether he/she is dealing with depression and needs to seek professional help.

Train, roll on, on down the line. Won't you, please, take me far away. Now I feel the wind blow outside my door. Means I'm, I'm leaving my woman at home. Tuesday's gone with the wind. Oh, my baby's gone with the wind. And I just don't know, oh, where I'm going. I just want to be left alone. Well, when this train ends I'll try again oh, but I'm leaving my woman at home. Tuesday's gone with the wind. Tuesday's gone with the wind. Tuesday's gone with the wind. My baby's gone with the wind. Train, roll on, Tuesday's gone. Train, roll on many miles from my home. See I'm, I'm riding my blues away, yeh. Tuesday, you see, she had to be free. Lord, but somehow I've got to carry on. Tuesday's gone with the wind. Tuesday's gone with the wind. Tuesday's gone with the wind. My baby's gone with the wind. Train, roll on 'cause my baby's gone.. I'm riding my blues away, baby turn around my blues ride on, train, ride on, train ridin' my blues, babe come back to me, babe come back to me oo-oo-oo-oo-oo-ooh train..
