why do my truck only over heat when i have a trailer hook to it and when i try to trun around and back up the truck is chevy 1500 silverador frour by four.?

It sounds like your truck is not able to handle towing the trailer. You can hook up a switch to make the cooling fan come on whenever you need it to cool down the engine.
