Because the majority of the people who use this site to answer questions do it to give themselves feel a false feeling of importance, and have no lives. I, of course, am an exception. My brilliant answers illuminate the universe!
Rather than complaining about the quality of the answers that you read on this site (and some of the answers are truly horrible) why don't you take the opportunity to add to, or edit the bad answers, and post better answers. This is a group effort. If we do our part, there will be better answers.
This is an opinion question. I'm my opinion, no. I don't feel that someone has the right to tell someone who to marry, especially if the bride is not totally interested in him.
'Insist' may not be the correct word. Smith's role was to give his professional opinion and Charles Howard then decided.

Even when people believe, not in the existence of God but in the existence of other gods, some Christians insist on voicing their opinion that he exists. Of course, on a level playing field, those who do not believe in the existence of God have an equal duty to express their beliefs.
insist
Insist what? New Atheists insist everything other Atheists insist. The Denial of the claim there is a God by Theistic religions.
An antonym of "insist" is abandon.
