All Cessna 406 are low wing, twin engine executive aircraft. -The "Cessna 406 Bushplane" in the book "Hatchet" is entirelya figment of the author's fertile imagination. The There is in fact NO such aircraft.
The Cessna 406 is a fast light cargo aircraft with two Pratt and Whitney PT-6 turboprops.
The Cessna 406 is NOT a bush plane. It's a business/light cargo plane with two turoprops, designed to commute and land on hard runways.
The 406 Caravan ll has two Pratt and Whitney PT-6 engines.
It's made in France. It's the only turboprop Cessna with two engines. And you really have to work at it to make one crash.
In the book "Hatchet" it is a small single engined plane with only enough room for two people. This deascription is entirely fictional. The Cessna 406 is NOT a bush plane; never was, never will be. It is a 9+ passenger, twin turboprop business plane. Typical Cessna bush planes are the 120, 140, 180, and 185. Anyone who says differently is talking through their hat.ANS 3 - Agreed, -The 406 is a twin engine business/cargo plane. -Somebody wrote a kid's book naming a bushplane "Cessna 406" and now everyone believes it
The Cessna 406 can hold a total fuel capacity of approximately 120 gallons (about 454 liters). It typically has two fuel tanks, each with a capacity of 60 gallons. This allows for extended range and endurance for various flight operations.
Yes they are alive and well, they still build several different models of aircraft from a two seater trainers to corporate jets.
The Cessna 406 that Brian crashes in Hatchet was a two passenger bush plane, a plane used to move passengers and light equipment into and out of remote locations that might be too tight or too small for larger aircraft.
I suppose that anyone looking for this answer has just read Hatchet. Hatchet is a wonderful, award winning young adult novel. However the author, Gary Paulson, erroneously called the small two-place airplane, that is so critical to the story, a Cessna 406. A Cessna 406 was actually a high performance twin engined, turbo prop aircraft. The aircraft seated 6 persons and could carry 3,000 pounds and cruise at 450 miles an hour at high altitude. I got my answer to this question from Cessna's website then called the customer care number listed there.
The little Cessna 150 is a two-seater. So besides the pilot there's room for 1 more. The takeoff weight limit is 730 Kilograms and since the plane's weight is 504 kilograms, the total weight you can bring on board is 226 kilograms ;-)
No, there are two-seater convertibles as well.
