It is certainly possible. There have been quite a few individuals that have survived long falls out of aircraft and/or failed parachutes that have survived.

  1. Lieutenant I. M. Chisov of the Soviet Union was shot down by German Messerschmitts on January 1942. He bailed out at 21,980 feet and did not open his parachute as he was unconscious. He crashed at the edge of a steep ravine covered with 3 ft of snow. He suffered a concussion of the spine and a fractured pelvis.
  2. Flight Sergeant Nicholas Steven Alkemade of Great Britain was on a bombing mission over Germany on 23 March 1944 when his bomber was destroyed. He was forced to jump at 18,000 feet without a parachute. He impacted on a snow covered forest slope.
  3. 26 January 1972, Vesna Vulovic a stewardess in a DC-9 which blew up at 33,330 feet. She landed in snow on a hillside and survived.
