Mr.George Palmer Putnam died of natural causes. some years after Amelia left, he did remarry a much younger woman. He was, of course a prominent publisher ( Putnams- by the way pronounced ( Putt( as in Golf)-Nam, not Put- like put-down) Nam. is still a big name in book world.

George Palmer Putnam, which is pronounced- PUTT-nam not like Put-down. The film is fairly accurate. ( Amelia) Not mentioned is the fact they were divorced at the time of Amelia"s disappearance, though George may have been trying to work out a rapprochement. The Fact that Amelia was a divorcee automatically shorts out the theory she went underground in Japan and posed as a religious. No religious order will willingly accept a Divorcee as a candidate or postulant! - this plot line was the gist of the so-called Spellman-Cochran tapes.
Her plane went down in the Pacific and her body has never been found. To this day historians are not sure where she crashed or landed. There are theories, but nothing that is for sure. So, there is no grave.
