Bi-plane
Four...two on each side
The is only one pair of wings on a monoplane. There would be one wing on each side of the plane.
An airplane that has a set of 2 wings is called a biplane.
If I am correct, every common jet plane has three wings: Two side wings and at the back, a stabilizer that sticks up out of the tail.
A biplane would have two wings, thus the prefix "bi".
The Spitfire is a low wing design. The wings do not really go under the plane, but extend out from the bottom edge of the side of the fuselage.
Bi means two. A biplane has two wings each side
A monoplane has one pair of wings (2 wings). There is usually one wing on each side of each fuselage.
An aircraft with two wings, one on top of the other, is a biplane. However a 'canard' may also have two wings each side, one near front, other at rear.
A plane with two wings on each side of the fuselage
An airplane is made of millions of small parts. The wings, have the same function as a bird. The tail, or rudder, keeps the plane stable, and also helps with turning the plane sideways without having to bank (roll the plane to turn it). The elevators, are the small "wings" on each side of the tail, are the elements that make the plane pitch up, and pitch down. The ailerons, are the plates that come up of the wings, make the plane bank. The flaps/slats, is a function that slows the plane for landing, and also helps the plane from going to fast during take- off. If you want to know more about airplanes, go to Wikipedia, and search around for stuff about airplanes, and other type of aircraft.
Normally they have 2 pairs of wings but sometimes 1 wing on each side
