Flight simulators are used to train new pilots because it is safest and cheapest. It allows students to learn from small and big mistakes, and to experience emergency situations without killing anyone.
It is much cheaper (and safer) to let a fledgling pilot crash in a simulator than to crash a real plane while learning the nuances of flight.
The flight simulators of WW2 were very basic simulators that helped a student get the feel of flying. Some were used to teach pilots to operate at night to see if they would get disoriented. There were no combat simulators at all.The principal pilot trainer used during World War II was the Link Trainer. Some 10,000 were produced to train new pilots of allied nations, many in the USA and Canada because many pilots were trained in those countries before returning to Europe or the Pacific to fly combat missions.

A flight-simulator.
Its used in the training of pilots. Its normally preprogrammed with airport data, flights data including weather and potential failures that pilots may encounter. Sims can also be used by crash investors who input information from a down planes black box. This gives investigators a realistic view of what the aircrew and craft experienced 30 minutes to end of flight. In addition, new flight dynamics, functions and equipment are tested in simulators before going on to be used in the real world environment.
Flight simulators are only used for pilots who have existing licenses and normally only used by Commercial Airlines to keep their pilots up to date on the latest procedures. To earn a pilot's license you'll need several weeks of Ground School and then around 50-60 hours of flying time until you are allowed to fly solo. Simulator training alone will not get you a pilot's license.
Virtual Reality, An artificial environment that is experienced through computer-generated sounds and visuals, in which one's actions partly decide what happens in the environment. Industries using VR: -Healthcare -Entertainment -Architecture -Education
The dynamics are posted to the simulator. The simulator is then used to text virtual stress and handling on the area of the craft under test
One can use a flight simulator joystick to assist in making a simulation process much more realistic. Typically these joysticks are used in simulators that include flying.
A METAR is a format of weather reporting information and is used by pilots to fulfill part of their pre flight weather briefing. It is also used by meteorologists who use aggregated METAR information to assist in weather forecasting.
body signals are used to interpret flight attitude.
In commercial flying, two pilots are used to control the throttles in crucial parts of flight (taxi, take off, and landing) so make sure the throttles are in the right place for these parts of flight
