Simply speaking it is the most efficient design for a glider. A long wing span (tip to tip) and a short chord (front to back) will produce more lift and less induced drag (drag created when lift is created) than a shorter wider wing. The shape of a wing is dictated by the application. An aerobatic airplane has a short wingspan so it can roll quickly, a glider will roll much more slowly (like spinning on a computer chair and putting your arms out and in)
There are many other design elements to a wing that change its characteristics - camber, sweep, wash, dihedral or anhedral, taper, flex, vortex generators, fences, winglets and other tip devices are a few. Each has its own purpose and changes how the wing behaves.
Eagles are exceptional gliders. So, as long as a bald eagle has lift beneath his wings, he can stay aloft.
short
They can travel in a pouch (short term) or in a cage (long term).
If one fruit fly is heterozygous for long wings and the other is homozygous for short wings, the expected percentage of their offspring having long wings would be 50%. This is because when the long-winged parent passes on the dominant long-wing allele and the short-winged parent passes on the recessive short-wing allele, the offspring would have one of each allele, resulting in the offspring having long wings.
this question is incomplete if someone is to answer it that have to type the qusetion and give spicifects
Short. You usually wear long dresses to prom instead.
It is banana. But you say it like the "a"s are long instead of short. It is banana. But you say it like the "a"s are long instead of short.
A quail is a ground bird with short, round wings. They are known for their distinctive call and habits of running on the ground rather than flying long distances.
A large butterfly (wingspan 3-5 inches), the two-tailed swallowtail is found only west of the Mississippi in North America (in canyon lands, foothills, valleys, woodlands, and gardens from southwestern Canada through the western half of the U.S. and into Mexico).
It depends on the power and size of the plane, for high flight it would be good for long wings for acrobatics it would be short
For a rectangular wing, this reduces to the ratio of the span to the chord length as shown at the upper right of the figure. High aspect ratio wings have long spans (like high performance gliders), while low aspect ratio wings have either short spans (like the F-16 fighter) or thick chords (like the Space Shuttle).
A glider has no engine, that is the main difference. They also have long thin wings to hold them up for a long time, whereas the jet usually has short, swept back wings for speed.
