The thermostat problem is spotted by an overheated or under heated engine.
The reason you are getting no heat is the valve to the heater core is bad, or the core itself or one of the hoses is bad. I have an 05 Lacrosse with the same problem. I can hear the water circulating in the core which seems to fluctuate in volume and is related to the heat output. I tried to increase and decrease the temp to see if that would unstick it. I am pretty sure I have a blockage in the core itself. If need be I will go to the junkyard and rip one out for 20 bucks and replace it.
If you are going to buy any parts online I setup a page that links to auto stores. It's the same stores, but by clicking thru my portal you get cash back, I make a small percentage, and you pay the same price or less than if you went to the site itself. I still haven't figured this one out, but it works. http://tinyurl.com/ya23vt6
could be your temperature controls are stuck. a vacuum or cable operated flapper that closes off the heater core when a/c is in use, or allows cool outside air in. it is under the dash where the air comes out by the passengers feet, sometimes you can move the levers by hand if the cables are stuck
Did you bleed the system making sure that there is no air in the system. Check the rad cap to ensure that it holds the pressure
Sure, in an emergency but, you will have poor heat and the check engine light will illuminate.
many things could be wrong......if you are losing antifreeze it could be a hose, water pump, a radiator leak, head gasket....check for any orange or green fuild under the hood of the car and any signs of somthing being wet.......if no fuild is lost could be the themostat...if u have no heat in the car it could be a sign of the themostat...the themostat could be stuck closed...this is if there is not major damage to the car entarnaly to the engine....
If you are getting a little to no heat, mostlikely the Heater core is clogged. Disconnect heater hoses by the alternator. Higher hose is the input and lower hose is output. Back wash the heater core with garden hose or compressed air. I actually connected the hoses backward to circulate the coolant in reverse flow. Usually get a good heat after this. I would correct the hoses in correct order after a good flush of the cooling system.
it might be your a/c heater blend door actuator is bad and not closing when the heat is or you need to bleed your system
there is no heat inside the car what is wrong ?
There is no heat in my 97 buick park ave. why? the fan works an ac. an the temp says 90 degrees but still comes out cold.
you have low coolent or it is blocked. check to see if your anti freeze is low or you may have a stuck themostat.
no
Metamorphic, changed by pressure and heat
Could be a clogged heater core. Just because it doesn't leak doesn't mean it's working right.
