The idle is set and adjusted by the computer according to engine load. check dirty throttle plates carbon buildup will interfere with airflow. another common problem is a stuck egr valve this will cause a poor idle but run perfect once rpm are above 1500. egr valve can be removed and cleaned most of the time. always check for engine codes this can save alot of diagnostic time

Where on the engine in a 1984 corvette is the idle air control valve located?

In a 1984 Corvette, the idle air control valve (IAC) is located on the throttle body. It is mounted on the underside of the throttle body assembly, which is situated on the intake manifold. This valve helps regulate the engine's idle speed by controlling the amount of air entering the engine during idle conditions.

How do you idle down a 1984 corvette?

To idle down a 1984 Corvette, start by ensuring the engine is warm and at normal operating temperature. Then, locate the idle adjustment screw on the throttle body, and carefully turn it clockwise to decrease the idle speed. It's important to monitor the RPMs and make small adjustments, as you want to avoid stalling the engine. Finally, check the idle speed with a tachometer and make any necessary fine-tuning adjustments.
