First off, are u replacing the struts and coil springs also? U have everything apart at this time and it is the best time to do it. Three bolts on top, 2 on the spindle and pry out. BE CAREFULL! If u do not have a spring compressor, do not perform this work. U will be hurt! jack stands also. Be safe, do not take any chances. As u will need to have at least an alignment check when work done, have everything lined up first.
Begin by compressing the strut spring with a spring compressor. Remove the strut retaining bolts. Reverse the process to install the new strut.
Make sure it isn't the tire first. You will have to remove the strut, and have the bearing pressed out.
S10 dont have struts the have coil springs and shocks
to change a front wheel bearing remove macpherson strut and press out bearings with a press, replace with press.
The top of the strut is connected to the vehicle body through the upper strut mount, in some cases called a bearing plate. This bearing plate allows the strut to pivot as the wheels are turned. It must be flexible enough to handle slight angle changes and dampen movement of the upper end of the strut. This mount or bearing plate transfers vehicle load to the strut and spring, making the upper mount/bearing plate the load carrier and the lower ball joint the follower.I found this on the Monroe site.
Make darn sure it isn't the tire first. Take the strut off, and have the bearing pressed.
Since the strut bearing is part of the strut-coil spring assembly, the whole thing will have to come out and be disassembled. See "Related Questions" below for extensive information on these procedures.
A worn-out strut will begin to make noises. In many cases the strut will make a creaking noise when turning corners.
To replace the suspension top bearing on a Renault Scenic, start by safely lifting the vehicle and removing the front wheel. Next, detach the suspension strut from the top mount by removing the nuts and bolts, then carefully take out the strut assembly. Replace the old top bearing with a new one, ensuring it is seated correctly, and reassemble everything by reversing the disassembly steps. Finally, double-check all connections and lower the vehicle back to the ground.
Improper installation. Not torqued correctly. Torque to factory specs. Did you also replace the race on which the bearing rides? If not, this is your problem. A bent wheel, bad tire, or bad strut or shock can also cause a bearing to fail prematurely.
