You might as well take the motor our, its a pain in the a**. the thermostat is between the motor and the firewall and above the transmission...NOT fun. I replaced mine when I had to rebuild the motor due to a broken writs pin :(
There is a dual thermostat housing located at the top center of the engine near the oil filler tube. You will be able to find it by tracing the radiator hoses
take the valve cover off should be 4 head bolts then pull the valve cover off and youll see four plastic plugs in between the dual overhead cams below the plastic things are the spark plugs
