To replace the coolant crossover gasket on a 2000 Cadillac, first, disconnect the battery and drain the coolant from the system. Next, remove any components obstructing access to the crossover, such as the intake manifold or hoses. Carefully detach the crossover, clean the mating surfaces, and install the new gasket. Reassemble everything in reverse order, refill the coolant, and check for leaks.
"crossover tube"... (??)If this is referring to the coolant bypass hose/tube, we've got you covered with the "Related Question" below. If not, please elaborate on what/where/symptoms are related...
At the front of the engine under the housing that attaches to the coolant crossover tube assembly.
It is on the intake manifold near the thermostat.
It is on the intake manifold near the thermostat housing.
It is on the intake manifold near the thermostat housing.
It is in the intake manifold close to the thermostat housing.
It is in the intake manifold, by the thermostat housing
The thermostat is on the driver's side of the engine. To see it you need to remove the air filter assembly. To replace it you need to remove the air filter assembly, the steel coolant line in front of the thermostat, the crossover exhaust manifold and its heat shield. I just finished this job today. It's a 3 to 4 hour job.
Right on top of the engine where the coolant hose is attached to the manifold. You remove the two bolts to the housing, and the thermostat is inside there.
A crack near or on the thermostat housing can cause a coolant leak in a 1996 Grand Marquis. The thermostat housing is located near the manifold on this vehicle.
