Check your crank shaft sensor. Had the same problem, replaced crank shaft sensor and fixed the problem.
Will it start after setting awhile? Check the crank shaft sensor.
On a 1999 catera it is next to the fuel tank. Slide under the trunk of the car and you will see it attached to the front of the fuel tank.
My car started and ran fine one day and the next morning i went out to start it and it would not start. I thought it might the the fuel filter so i reaplaced it the car still will not start so i thought maybe it might be the fuel pump but when u try to start it u can smell fuel and i can hear the fuel going through the pump any ideas as to what it might be. I am a single mother and cannot afford costly repair shops and towing fees. please help???

There is NO SUCH THING AS A CADILLAC CATERA FROM 2003...They stoped making them in 2001
The crank sensor had to be replaced on my 98 Catera when it was doing the same thing. I had to take it to the dealer to have this done.
The fuel pump is always in the gas tank.
I have a 2000 cadillac catera sometimes the radio will shut off when this occurs the fuel door will not open neither will the trunk

GM vehicles are not equipped with an inertia fuel shut-off switch.
Maybe its not the fuel pump itself.
Behind the passenger rear axle by the fuel tank very easy fix
