I know the head gasket on my 1992 sunbird has been replaced, don't know all the details because I didn't do it myself.. but i would try replacing it and see if you can't get more miles out of that engine! its a whole lot easier than replacing the whole thing because we did the cavalier version and it was a pain in the rear to switch out.. id suggest just replacing the gasket.
the same thing happened to me just before Christmas and i had the heads and cam looked at for knicks and warpage. Then just reconditioned/refurbished them, relatively cheap minus labor. replacing hoses and radiator gasket just below radiator cap and she's been good ever since.
The 2.4L does not have a distributor.
To change the convertible roof on a 1993 Pontiac Sunbird, start by carefully removing the interior trim panels surrounding the roof and any fasteners that hold the top in place. Once the old roof is detached, install the new convertible top by aligning it with the frame and securing it with the necessary clips and fasteners. Ensure all seals and weatherstripping are properly positioned to prevent leaks. Finally, reattach the interior trim panels and test the roof's operation.
There is no pollen filter on any sunbird the oldest GM product to get one is a 1993 Cadillac
What year? What year? What engine?
yes of course
Every 60,000 miles.
Remove oil pan
thermostat is located under radiator cap!
They stopped making Sunbirds in 1994, you have a Sunfire
Why change the engine ? A head gasket replacement with a head skim should cure this problem & would be a lot cheaper than a engine change best wishes
4.0 six cylinder? You'll want to remove the intake manifold. Looking front to rear on the car it's at 1 o'clock on the bell housing.
You go to servicing
