The BCM is located directly in front of the driver's left knee. It is a reddish purple box slightly smaller than a pack of cigarettes. It contains the chime that dings when you put the key in, start the car, have a Vehicle Information Center alert, etc. It's also the big culprit for the intermittent or "won't ever shutoff" continuous chime that will drive you nuts! To access the box, remove a small trim panel at the bottom far left of the dash (two screws). You won't remove the BCM from this direction, but this will allow you to use a screwdriver to press a small plastic release tab. While pressed, slide the BCM and it's attached wiring harness forward and it will now be released from the dash. Unplug the wiring harness and and remove the purple box. When the wiring harness is removed, there are a few things on the Jeep that won't work (i.e. Power Door LOCK, but UNLOCK is fine, int. wiper park, etc.) You can open the purple box and remove the E shaped metal piece. It's not attached to the circuit board. This will greatly lessen the chime sound.
