I've had similar experence with a Bonneville SSE, it was exhibiting all kinds of crazy symptoms, like the anti-theft system not allowing the car to be started, etc. Codes pointed us to fuel pumps, door sensors, etc. Which we changed to no avail, even bypassed the anti-theft system, no good. Finally found it turned out to be an simple intermittent electrical connection on the AC compressor. Unplugged and cleaned it, reconnected tightly, and viola, it starts and runs perfectly! These Pontiacs are bizarre creatures...
A seized AC compressor will tear up the belt... if it's a serpentine belt, or a belt which runs any other components necessary to the car's operation, that'll eventually cause it to shut down.
If the clutch on the AC compressor has seized, the engine can in some situations stop running. The compressor could be bad but it is also possible that the clutch only is bad.
A bad timing belt could make the engine shut down but it would only happen once, not sometimes.
A bad compressor belt can cause a whistling noise while running the air conditioner. A bad engine can also cause this noise.
Yes, if the compressor's bearings are bad, usually accompanied by a roaring or squealing noise coming from the compressor's pulley.
Yes, a bad AC compressor can potentially cause the engine to lock up. If the compressor seizes, it can create excessive resistance on the engine's drive belt, which may lead to increased strain on the engine. In severe cases, this can result in the engine stalling or becoming difficult to turn over. However, it's more common for the issue to manifest as a loss of AC functionality rather than a complete engine lock-up.
Yes, a bad AC compressor can contribute to engine overheating in a 1995 Cadillac Eldorado. If the compressor seizes or has internal failure, it can put additional strain on the engine, leading to increased load and potentially higher operating temperatures. Additionally, a malfunctioning compressor may affect the engine's cooling system by disrupting airflow or causing the engine cooling fan to engage improperly. It's essential to address AC issues promptly to prevent further complications.
A bad fuel injector can cause an engine to continue running, for a few seconds, after the engine to shut off. The engine continues to run because of excessive fuel in a piston.
you have a bad crank senser
"A BAD TEMP SENSOR" Or it could probably be a broken relay of the compressor. Try looking at that one as well.
compressor contactor is bad. probably stuck in the closed position.
The compressor could be bad.
