How do you know when the oxygen sensor needs to be replaced in a 1999 Oldsmobile Intrigue?
Our check engine light was on in our 1998 Intrigue. We went to Autozone and they pulled the codes and saw that it was either one (or both because they said there was 2). If your light is not on I am not sure how to find out otherwise. Autozone said that it tripped our light.

I have an 02 Accord and the same light went out. I unscrewed the faceplate and then unscrewed the control cluster and pulled the cluster out. When i found the bulb i pulled it out only to find out it is a dealer part because the bulb is so small. Good luck.
Could replacing the battery on a 2001 Mercury Sable make the check engine light stay on?
Normally when you replace the battery you disconnnect the computer and it should clear any codes stored. (The codes are what turn the check engine light on.) More than likely the cause of the light coming on is due to a vacuum line that was pulled loose when installing the battery. I had the same thing happen and it was caused by a vacuum line going to the cruise control. As soon as the line was reconnnected the light went off. You may want to have the codes checked by a reliable source such as Car Quest or any good mechanic if you can not find the problem. Autozone does the code check for free!

After replacing the EGR valve, use the diagnostic tool and erase codes then read the codes again. I had the same problem on my 97 geo metro. After replacing the egr valve, the check engine light stayed on. After a while it was suppose to clear itself but it didn't. So I went to autozone borrowed their diagnostic tool, erased the codes and then my car passed and the check engine light went off.

As you did before, you will have to have the trouble codes read again.It's possible the same problem has come back - in that case the mechanic who did the original work, is who you turn to next.But - it well could be a different problem.Have the codes read again...
