The Vehicle interface unit VIU and the Vehicle control unit VCU and the receiver is located behind the glove box in the passenger footwell. the onstar button is located int he overhead console. the modules are vin specific so they cant be swapped out without GM. you can remove them I have a 02 and since its no longer supported by onstar i yanked out the VIU and VCU and the cell phone receiver. then took the GPS transponder off the front driver side of the windshield and the rear attenna off the back glass and got an overhead console minus onstar and put it up. They unplug and cause no problems The fuse is fuse 32. The actual guts of the Onstar system is in the frontmost overhead compartment that is between the driver and passenger seats.
