im not going to answer your question but i have the exact same problem except i found that with the front wheels off the ground it does not die when turning to the right. I replaced the TCC solenoid and my check engine light went away but did not solve the right turn problem. If you find anything out please post it.
Sounds like the starter relay or solenoid is stuck. Check the selenoid - the selenoid might be stuck closed which would cause the starter to turn because the power wouldn't be shut off from the battery. Or it may be the ignition switch is stuck in the start position.
Bad starter solenoid?
The remote just connects the starter selenoid with the battery, when it completes the circuit, the engine starts and will run until it runs out of gas or the engine is disabled.
Probably a stuck solenoid.
The word, 'Solenoid' defines a shape, which turns out to be cylinder-shaped. Solenoid is an adjective . . . that means that it modifies a noun. The noun in this case is coil: As in 'solenoid coil' which is cylinder-shaped. In a car, the solenoid coil, or just 'Solenoid' pulls in the electric contactor on a car's starter to turn the starter. After the car starts, the solenoid releases the contactor to where it will be ready for the next engine startup.
AnswerCould be a bad starter drive - spring broken and not releasing or a bad starter solenoid not opening circuit See "Related Questions" below for instructions on how to remove/replace the starter.
What year? What is it doing? A 12 valve has a fuel shut off solenoid that commonly malfunctions, the engine cranks but never starts.
Defective solenoid?
Under the engine cover that says "series two". look between the the fuel rail and the valve cover, right where the engine fire usually starts. near the coil packs
The solenoid on a riding mower serves as an electromagnetic switch that controls the flow of electrical current to the starter motor. When the ignition key is turned, the solenoid engages, allowing the battery's power to reach the starter, which in turn starts the engine. Additionally, it helps protect the electrical system by preventing excessive current from damaging components. Overall, the solenoid is crucial for the starting process of the mower.
I have had my starter solenoid short out and go bad and keep on trying to start the engine even after I turned the key off. I had to disconnect the battery to stop it and buy a new starter solenoid and install it !
The soleonoid on the starter is bad. When you buy a new starter it comes with the solenoid. Try tapping on the starter with a hammer if it starts after that then this is your problem
