Yes, plastic coating on steel and not just the 455. Maybe for less chain wear or noise reduction. Every one I've ever seen when engine was tore down was cracked or broken.

How do you change the timing belt on a 1990 Honda Accord EX?

If you have to ask, you should take it to the shop. Done wrong, timing belts can cause a lot of trouble. I would recomend you get a Chilton's manual from the Library. However, it can be explained simply. The belt is one the side of the engine under a plastic cover. "Simply" remove the cover, release the tensioner and pull of the belt (or what ever is left of it). Install a new belt and retension. !!!WARNING!!! Engine timing must be exact. The Chilton Manual will explain the timing marks found on the sprockets. REMEMBER ON THE 1990 THEIR ARE THE TWO BALANCE SHAFTS WITH ANOTHER BELT BEFORE YOU EVEN GET TO THE TIMING BELT, AFTER THAT THE PROCEDURE IS BASICALLY THE SAME AS FOR A LATER 4 -BANGER HONDA(96-2000)

What is the correct timing on distributor?

How do you adjust timing on a 1999 cavalier 2.4L?

There is no timing adjustment. Put the 8mm bolts through the holes in both the cam sprockets at the correct points(bottom) and the mark on the crank gear with the mark on the chain housing(UP), and that is all you can do as far as timing. Everything is 0 degrees TDC. If this engine ever gets too far out of time, it will be a disaster for the engine.

Does a Saturn Vue 2007 ever need a timing belt replacement?

Is the oil pump gone when the valves tick on a 97 cavalier?

No valves should tick on any automobile what-so-ever. When there is valve ticking noises coming from an engine that usually means the timing of the engine is off and you should get it timed again. The timing is when you set the spark plug to go spark at a certain point in the cylinder. Refer to a dealer for correct timing. A good rule of thumb is to check the life of your timing belt if your vehicle has one.
