In 1968, Dodge produced a relatively small number of trucks equipped with dash shifters, as this feature was less common compared to floor-mounted shifters. Exact production numbers for dash shifter-equipped models are not widely documented, making it difficult to provide a precise figure. However, it's generally understood that these trucks were produced in limited quantities, contributing to their rarity today among collectors.
Yes, we have some F-250s that have turbo diesels with the middle console or the floor shifters.
the stickshift in the car, either on the steering wheel or on the floor
I believe they came with the floor shifter, I can't ever remember seeing one on the column. If you are refering to the G-body cars. Yes, floor shifters were optional 84-88. All 83 models had column shifters
Floor Automatic
i changed a transmission over from an 88 aerostar to a 93 aerostar, the only problem i had was with the shifter . the shift cable on the 88 was a floor shift and the 93 was on the steering coloumn. all aerostars have a plate on the floor where a floor shift can be installed. i removed this plate and installed the floor shifter from the 88 into the 93 problem solved ....hope this helps
Floor Automatic
Very hard. You will need to swap transmissions, drill holes in the floor for the clutch cable and pedal, etc. You're better off trading the car in on one already with an automatic.
It was an option, yes. Both column and console shifters were available during that production run.
FA(T) Floor automatic transmission
dont stop keep the gas to the floor.
I don't mean to change this guys answer in anyway he has a good answer. but i think if the car has been sold in automatic and manual configuration I don't think it would be too hard. just get a transmission from a junked 5 speed vehicle same type. but yeah you are going to have to change out the pedals and put the parts in he stated below. I'm not sure about cutting the whole floor pan if they automatics have shifters in the center "some vehicles have the automatic shifter built into the steering wheel and with that configuration u may have to cut the floor pan" but it would be a hard task and usually isn't recommended unless u have the time and the money. == == Yes, it is possible but requires much changing , computer, under hood wiring harness, pedals and mounts, flywheel, and modification to the floor pan to accommodate the opening required for the shifter to pass through.
