Overdrive is the normally allowed position , but unless the speed is higher it
won't shift into overdrive anyway
I wish I had the answer - this just started happening to me today.
Od is over drive . Its only in auto trans. You take it off when you are pulling something.
YOU CAN DRIVE WITH OVER DRIVE OFF IT IS A GOOD IDEA TO DRIVE WITH IT OFF AROUND TOWN SO THERE NOT MUSH LOAD ON TRANY ON THE HIGH WAY TURN ON OVER DRIVE
This is a good question. The answer is YES. The transmission with overdrive will run properly if just left alone. It will shift when needs to, even in the city. NOW, if you are towing a trailer and do not have a tow package, then take the overdrive OFF, the transmission will run cooler with the o/drive off. Keeping o/drive on pulling a trailer can burn the trans. by overheating, this is a fact, even with a trans. cooler. If you live in the North with the weather conditions that we have, then when you are driving in snow, you can put the transmission in drive, with o/drive off, it will help slow the car down a little.
really? what drive shaft. its a shift tube for the trans. trans is in the rear of the car. its called a trans axle. trans shifts the cv joints which turns the wheels. so you never have to take down the shift tube for no reason theirs a long steel rod inside that tube. that comes from your shifter to the trans.
over drive for the trans on thr end of the shifter if automatic or the last gear on a manuel trans
check the trans fluid
yes, but a small one. and if automatic trans, take the o/drive off.
No problem for a small trailer up to say 2,500 lbs or even 3,000 lbs. Just as long as you turn off the electronic over drive. This will keep the trans. cooler. Also for those long trips, have a trans. cooler installed, it helps.
Every Trans Am from 1969-2002 was rear wheel drive.
its your trans, just drive it in non o/d mode and over the part its like 100 bucks take 20min to install
The yoke on the driveshaft of a gm turbo 350 trans has a small vent hole in it. If the trans is over filled to the point fluid comes out of it you will do serious damage to the trans if you try to drive the vehicle.
