I have a '96 and I know they changed some things, but to my knowledge it's not necessary. I've completely removed my upper control arms without touching the coil springs. The coil spring goes from the lower arm to the frame, and the upper only connects to the steering knuckle.
Remove bolt, washers and bushing and replace with new. It is pretty self evident. Remove tire and put suitable support under a arm to keep spring compressed. Use normal caution when working around suspension parts as the can be loaded by spring pressure. Removal of the stabilizer brackets and bushing makes the job easier but isn't really necessary.
Remove the nut and rubber bushing and move the kick stand all the way forward and it will fall on. Simple is simple does... Cajun
The bushings are pressed into the eye of the leaf spring on each end. The leaf spring should be removed and the old bushing pressed out on a shop press then press a new bushing pressed back in. In the old days I used to burn the old rubber out of the bushing then chisel out what is left.
There is a spring compressor made by SNAP-On, MAC, etc. I went to a body shop and borrowed one ; then the job is easy.
Most of the time it is the bushing in the top of the column. .Pull the steering wheel off, pull the locking plate for the steering wheel, pull the blinker assembly, then you will come to a stiff spring that preloads the bushing under it.....That bushing, and spring need to be replaced, and you have cured your problem. . . . .
There are two things that control the throttle. One is a steel rod, and the other is a spring. Remove the spring and replace it with a steel rod (you will have to fabricate something) and that's it. The gas tank will have to be removed to get at the linkage.
Door pin and bushing kits are available from your local auto parts store, however you will need a tool to safely remove and replace the detente spring which also is available at your auto parts store.
no you do not.
if you replacing them you a cutting torch and bubn then out or get the spring hot enough to let the bushing be hammered out
You do not have to remove the strut. You have to take the pressure off the spring. To do this put a jack under the lower control arm and lift until the spring compress's then under the hood on top of the strut is a nut remove the nut and then carefully and slowly let the jack down , this will relieve the pressure on the strut and spring alowing you to remove the control arm safely. And always use jack stands to support the car.
For a 2002 MDX, there are four screws to remove the cover. Then remove the spring ring holding the intake hose. Remove the cover and replace the air filter. Replace the cover and screws and then reconnect the intake hose and spring ring.
