Yes I have one in a1990 silverado short bed with 350 and 5 speed automatic transmition.
Best thing to do, is change the gear ratio in the axle. Depending on what gear ratio you have now, go to a lower numerical axle ratio. For instance, if you have a 3.73 gear ratio now, try using a 3.55, or 3.23. You will be going faster, before the engine hits the chip.
It will, but you want to make sure it's the same gear ratio, which would be determined by the RPO codes on the glove compartment door.
YES. But you better make sure the gear ratio in the 74 matches the 78. 4-wheel drives must have the same gear ratio in the front and rear are things will BRAKE UNLESS IT IS IN MUD AT ALL TIMES.
A Chevy 3.42 rear end typically has 41 teeth on the ring gear and 12 teeth on the pinion gear. This gear ratio of 3.42:1 indicates that for every 3.42 revolutions of the driveshaft, the wheels make one complete revolution. The specific tooth count may vary slightly depending on the rear end design, but these numbers are standard for the 3.42 ratio.
It could, or it could make it worse. There are a lot of factors in gear ratio selection.
yes you can bolt this trans to a 400 smallblock b ut you need to make sure that you put an attachment on your throttle linkage for the T.V. cable or the trans wont shift out of first gear
If you have the code GU6 on your glovebox sticker then you have 3.42 to 1. This was a pretty typical ratio for this year make and model. If you have GTU on the sticker then you have 3.73 to 1.
NO Chevy did not make a 3 bolt starter. It only requires 2 bolts.
No not normally. It just transfers the motion to another area.
Zubie make her dance!
Yes normally they were truck engines.
Probably the steering gear.
