Oh, dude, a Jeep Liberty does have a cabin air filter, like most cars these days. It's there to keep all the gross stuff out of your car's air system, so you can breathe in all that fresh, filtered air while you're cruising around. So, yeah, if you want to keep your car smelling nice and your lungs happy, make sure to change that filter every now and then.

Not on my 2004 Jeep Liberty... however, there is a built in metal and/or plastic mesh screen (about three inches high and five inches long) on the intake portion of the air conditioning system located directly behind the glove box.

I had a problem with the air not cooling well and barely coming out of the vents on 'Max Cool' so I lowered the glove box looking for a cabin air filter to replace and discovered it didn't have one. What the problem was is that the built in 'mesh screen' was all but completely covered in caked on dust, etc. The cure, for me, was to vacuum all that caked on dust, etc. off that mesh screen, that cured my problem.

Note: this 'mesh screen' area is where the A/C gets it's air from when you put the A/C on 'Max Cool' or 'Recirculate'.
