The NP231 transfer case is not directly compatible with the NV3550 transmission. The NV3550 typically uses a different mounting pattern and input shaft compared to the NP231. However, it may be possible to adapt them with custom modifications or an adapter plate, but this would require careful planning and fabrication. Always consult with a professional or refer to specific conversion guides for your vehicle.

No. The 72 Chevy more than likely came with a np203. You will need one of the following to mate with a 700r4 or 4l60e: np208, np231, or np241.
What's your question?
Depends on how mechanically inclined you are. Manual trans was originally an AX-15. You could put an NV3550 in its place. Auto trans was originally a 32RH. You COULD swap an AW4 from a Cherokee in. You'd gain an extra gear but you would have to wire it all in. Very involved.
NP245 or NP247 use a special transfer case lube NP231 or NP242 use Automatic Transmission Fluid
