There wasn't a wrangler model 1996. If it has square headlights then its a 1995 and it is a YJ which is not compatible with a 2001. If it has round headlights then its a 1997 and its a TJ which is compatible with a 2001
It has square headlights. Looks just like a '88, '89, '90, '91, '92, '93, '94, or '95 wrangler.
Disconnect the POSITIVE battery cable and touch it to the negative terminal OR disconnect the POSITIVE battery cable for about 30 minutes (either way drains the capacitors in the electrical system)
Jeep Wrangler's don't have any way of reminding you when the headlights are on when you close the door because the doors aren't really part of the jeep.
a TJ is the model designation for wranglers made from 1996-2006. the wrangler succeeded the cj in 1987 and from then till 1995 it was the wrangler YJ. the current wrangler is a JK. so 44-86=CJ 87-95=YJ 97-06=TJ 07-now=JK There wasn't a 1996 JEEP WRANGLER. The Civilian Jeep or CJ was put to pasture in 1987. The "new" jeep was born and named Wrangler. The YJ Jeep Wrangler is a smaller, lighter, and has square headlights. Jeepers of the world said "Nay!" on square headlights. Hence, after the last YJ with square headlights was created the YJ was no longer made. The TJ Jeep Wrangler is mostly the same Jeep but it has round headlights. THEY ARE INITIALS FOR WRANGLER MODELS Jeep Wrangler TJ and YJ are the initials for Wrangler models. As per the official information disclosed by Jeep, TJ and YJ don't essentially mean anything, though many of the Jeep fans strongly believe that TJ stands for "tough Jeep", YJ for "yuppie Jeep", CJ for "Civilian Jeep" so on and so forth.
If your high beams still work it is the dimmer switch.
The positive battery cable is red.
If the headlights do not come on and the parking lights do in a 2000 Jeep Wrangler, it is possible that the fuse is blown for the headlamps. It is also possible for them to both be burned out due to touching the glass part when installing them. Oil in the fingers will overheat them and burn them out.
I had the same problem with my 1988 jeep wrangler and all I did was change the rear left bulb and never had the problem again.
They first try Levi, then Wrangler before they decide which ones they prefer.
yes, swap your grille with a tj/cj grill with the hood.
