two resistors r1=2000ohm,r2=4000ohm are joined in series and connected to a 100volt supply.the voltage drop across r1andr2 are measured successively by a voltmeter of resistance 50000ohm.find the sum of the two readings?
If the speedometer is not working but the odometer is, I would suspect the dash cluster is at fault. If both speedometer and odometer are not working I would suspect the speed sensor on the transmission is at fault.
check the fuse panel
Speedometer is ran by electronic sensor on rear end. Odometer is ran from speedometer. If both don't work problem is sensor. If speedometer works sensor is okay. If speedometer works and odometer does not problem is in mechanical parts (gears) of of odometer and has to be replaced. Can get used from eBay (search for speedometer or odometer, is one unit) or take to dealer.
If the speedometer and odometer are both not working, I would blame the speed sensor. If only the speedometer does not work and the odometer does work, the cluster is bad.
Does your odometer work? If the speed sensor goes faulty both speedometer and odometer stop working.
There is no such thing as an "odometer sensor." There is a vehicle speed sensor that is located on the output shaft housing of the transmission. That sends info to the speedometer. From there, the speedometer and the odometer are both operated internally, so if your speedo is working, but the odometer isn't, you have a problem inside the speedo head assembly.
One of the speed sensors runs the speedometer/odometer and transmission shift patterns, other speed sensors run the abs and or traction control.
Yes, if the speedometer is not working, it can affect the odometer, although they are separate systems. Both typically rely on the vehicle's speed sensor; if the sensor fails, the speedometer may not display speed, and the odometer may not record distance accurately. In some cases, the odometer might continue to function independently, but it often correlates with the speedometer's readings. Therefore, a malfunction in one can indicate potential issues with the other.
The speedometer/ odometer signals come from the ABS sensors. There is a sensor at each wheel bearing.
In a Saturn, the speedometer and odometer often rely on different sensors to function. While the odometer tracks the distance traveled using information from the vehicle's transmission, the speedometer typically relies on a Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS) for real-time speed readings. If the VSS fails or has a wiring issue, the speedometer will stop working while the odometer continues to function normally. Thus, a malfunction in the speed sensor is usually the culprit when the speedometer is non-functional but the odometer still operates.
It's located in the rear of the transmission.
check the fuse, the speedometer does not run off of a fuse
