Check to see if Power Steering fluid is at correct level
Could be belt is glazed and slipping
Could be a bad power steering pump
Could be a bad steering rack
Could be worn front end parts

If it steers hard or rough in one direction but not the other it could be the rack. If it steers hard in both directions it could be the pump.
the SHO model it came standard in 90-95 so the 89's dont have one. the 94-95 have hard button ones that dont break as easily
The vent door at blower is broken, very common and very hard to fix.
your wheels are more than likely turned hard in one diretion turn your steering wheel hard in the diretion of the wheels and turn key
It will be on the cover just over the radiator you will have the diagram for the serpentine. I do not know if Ford Taurus 1996 is the same as Ford Taurus 1994. But my 1996 serpentine routing diagram is under the hood, you may have to wipe it with a rug or towel if its dirty and hard to see.Hi, You can go to your Ford dealer and they will print one for you. Dayco has these diagrams available on-line for free. Enter all the pertinent info and it will show you the belt routing and tensioner information.
You won't want to. If you disconnect it, your steering will be almost too hard to turn in normal driving.
My ford truck key fits and starts my taurus! you can find a Taurus in safari zone, be patient, it is very hard to find.
You need to drill out the rivets and have a rivet tool to install a new window not to hard to do if you got the proper tools
