Fuel level sending unit on a 2003 expedition?

unfortunately it's in the gas tank. I recentley filled my gas tank on my 2003 expedition and only registered 1/4 th tank. so i went back to the gas station and tried to put more gas in but it topped out with only a buck. so i knew it was full. i looked in the internet and found out i would have to drop the gas tank and put a new fuel level sendin unit the bad part is it cost $300.00 to $500.00 bucks then the hassel to drop the tank. so far i know that a full tank gives me approx. 335 miles and some for the reservoiur. so I'm using my trip miles gauge so far and filling up when it hits 330. good luck
