The 1990 Ford Taurus uses a 10 Cut keys system. The Code Series consist of a 7 character code example 123A456. The original key code came on metal tag that is associated with that key. Here are some ways to have a key produced for that vehicle: 1. Contact the dealer and bring your Vehicle Identification Number, Registration and ID, they can cut you a key to code if the locks have not been changed. 2. Contact a locksmith with an NASTF ID who can cut a key if you provide ID and VIN number to them. 3. If the locks have been changed (if the ignition and door key do not match this is evidence that one or more of the locks has been changed), you will need to have the vehicle present for the locksmith to either decode and cut a key, or simply replace the ignition. They can also key the ignition to match the door or key the door to match the ignition. 4. If you only need a door key and you are handy with tools, you can remove the clip on the edge of the door, work the door lock out of the front of the handle, remove the lock from the linkage rod (use a pair of vice grips to hold the rod and prevent it from dropping in the door). Bring just the door lock to a locksmith who can then fit a key to the lock. You can submit lock or key related questions at no charge to www.popalock.com
