Bad wheel bearings usually cause a grinding noise, and are known to only cause it when turning.
the dealership told me that it is due to the steering column needing to be lubricated
Steering Wheel Air bag!
I believe there is none, it has an Electronic power steering. They replaced mine on my 2003 ION.
Could be a worn belt, failing power steering pump or low power steering fluid.
No it does not. I found out the hard way when our 2008 Outlook experienced steering issues/hard turning. Dealer said pump and steering rack need replaced to the tune of $1500 and is not covered under the powertrain warranty. Seems to be an issue with these models and the Acadia as well. Good luck. Jim
Maybe tirod end or ball joint Check strut bearings.
the most of the time you have to replace the whole steering column. My wife had one that go down the road and the steering would go out. I just replaced the hole column
Try turning the steering wheel one direction or the other as you try to turn the key.
Are the belt and belt tensioner in good condition? Are the tires properly inflated?
the steering wheel is in a bind and holding the locking pin to tight try turning the wheel and the key at the same time
Its to adjust the angle of the steering wheel
To replace the power steering rack on a Saturn Ion, You must first dissmantle the current steering rack by accessing the main hood, and from there you can screw the new steering rack into place
