Find a small pointed object to reach in the hole with. You will push in on a small button while you you pull out on the key switch. To install the new one simply line the new one up in the same position and push it back in place until it clicks. Turn it off and back on to make sure it moves freely and you are done. Now from your question I assume you are talking about the piece of the ingnition switch where the key is inserted. The actual electrical part of the ignition switch is located on the top of the steering column assembly and you have to take the column loose from the dash to replace it. I don't think I've had one that didn't but I've changed several while I had the plastic cover off of the column to replace the gear shift boot as well.
