When the check gauges light comes on then that means you have either lost all oil pressure are the engine is running HOT. It only has 2 functions and these are it.
Check the spark plug for that cyclinder. Clean and regap it, or simply replace it.
With no speeds at all, check the fuse, then check the blower speed switch and it's electrical plug.

um...check your gauges. is it out of fuel, temp too high, oil pressure too low? this light basically tells you that something is going to make you walk if you dont fix it. I believe it is "check gages" I don't know why they misspelled it. And yes, low fuel. I am all too familiar with that light. I've had to walk a couple times.
To fix the 1995 Suburban instrument lights, check the light fuse first. Check the light switch. If these are ok, then check the instrument cluster for proper power and ground connections.
