I got better gas mileage in my 2000 Jeep Wrangler (with Inline six). When I bought it I was getting 15 mpg ave. with 10% ethanol fuel. After I ran a few bottles of injector cleaner through the engine, and checked the mileage again, I was getting 17mpg with Premium fuel, and if I kept the rpm's down below 2200, I would get 18.5-19mpg. However, the cost of always putting Premium in my Jeep was starting to aggravate me, (my station raised the price to .35 cents higher than 10% ethanol !!) I looked for options, I replaced my spark plugs with the high end Pulsar plugs ( 120$ ) and I was getting 17-18 mpg with premium, and no change with 10% ethanol! I figure the engine is running hot enough with the plugs, that the fuel does not matter anymore. It has been 2 months now, and I get 16.5-17 mpg still with 10% ethanol fuel, and that's good enough for me.
