THERE CAN BE ANYWHERE FROM 1 TO 8 HARNESSES DEPENDING UPON THE FEATURES THAT THE SYSTEM HAS. IF IT WAS INSTALLED CORRECTLY IT SHOULD NOT AFFECT ANYTHING ELSE ELECTRICAL IN THE VEHICLE. HARNESSES ARE MADE SO THAT THEY HAVE TO MATCH UP WITH A MALE OR FEMALE COUNTERPART TO COMPLETE A CONNECTION. WHENVER UNPLUGGED THEY SIMPLY DO NOT MAKE THAT CONNECTION. IF YOU TRY TO REMOVE THE HARNESSES COMPLETELY BE SURE THAT YOU DO NOT SEPARATE ANY ORIGINAL CAR WIRES THAT THE HARNESS WAS SPLICED INTO OR DO NOT LEAVE THE ORIGINAL WIRES BARE SO THAT THEY CAN CONTACT METAL OR ONE ANOTHER, OPTHERWISE YOU CAN EASILY HAVE PROBLEMS WITH LIGHTS, STARTERS, HORNS, ETC. on most newer alarms it's ok to unplug the brain because the starter disable relays are wired to normally closed so the starter will still work. the exception is certain high end clifford, python, viper alarms which might have it built into the brain.
