I had to replace the fuel pump on my dad's Silverado (located on top of the gas tank), and I believe that the best way to get to the fuel tank is dynamite. WHAT A LABOR-INTENSIVE JOB!!! HOLY COW....I do NOT envy ANYONE else having to do this! Ya gotta remove the bed, and that means removing the (undoubtedly rusted) bolts that secure the bed to the frame. If you have time, room, a compressor, and impact-wrenches, you have a reasonable chance. Do yourself a favor - go to church the Sunday before you start on this....
remove fuel tank.
It is in the gas tank, have to remove tank to get to it.
It is inside of the fuel tank. Remove the bed and take it out of the top of the tank. Or remove the fuel tank then take it out.
