Just did this to our 2005 Sentra. You have to remove the entire center console: 2 screws up front (one on driver's side and one on pass side), 1 top middle (under small cover just in front of brake handle), and 2 in the rear (you have to remove the drink holder "cover" to get at them). Disconnect the 2 electrical connections for the cigarette lighters and remove the console. Now, the gear shift indicator "box" can be snapped off its locator posts, and underneath you will find the bulb holder. The shift indicator "box" can be lifted just enough to be able to twist and remove the bulb holder. The lamp can then be pulled straight out of the bulb holder. Repeat the process in reverse order to put it back together.

Tilt steering wheel all the way down. Pop out Cruise main switch bezel and unplug, remove screw behind the switch. Pop out rear window defroster switch and unplug, remove screw behind the switch. Remove center console. Two screws under cover at the bottom of the console pocket, remove. Pop out drink holder and remove single screw hidden by drink holder. Remove console. Pop out ashtray and remove the screw behind it, remove two screws behind gear shift. Remove radio, (remove two 8mm silver screws below radio and storage pocket. Remove two screws under the HVAC controls, above radio location. Remove two screws above instrument cluster. The bezel surrounding the instrument cluster can be moved out of the way. The HVAC controls will still be connected, so you cannot remove the bezel entirely. Remove four screws holding cluster, unplug the three wiring connectors, and gently remove cluster. You have to roll the cluster forward to unplug the connectors, continue rolling it forward and it will slide to the left over the turn signal handle.
