You can not check the transmission fluid on the 2002 L200 or L300, due to this transmission is a sealed transmission. I bought my L200 new and this is one of the new transmissions Saturn was using from Germany. My question at this point is when does the transmission fluid need to be change. Mine has 100k miles plus. I have a chiltons manual on this particular model and this manual gives very ggod directions on how to change the fluid, filter etc. But when. Is 100k miles time to change the fluid and filter. Now I know where to get this answer, call our local Saturn dealer and ask the question.
Automatic: It is located above the transmission fluid filter on the front of the transmission. Manual: There is no Transmission fluid trmperature sensor for the Manual transaxle

There should be a red dipstick on the drivers side under the hood near the firewall. Similar to that of an automatic transmission.
The Saturn Ion 3 does not have a traditional transmission fluid dipstick, as it features a sealed transmission system. To check the transmission fluid level, you typically need to raise the vehicle and access the transmission through a fill plug on the side of the transmission case. It's advisable to consult the owner's manual or a professional mechanic for guidance on checking and changing the transmission fluid properly.
