Changing the gasket itself is simple.. drain the oil, unbolt the oil pan from the bottom of the engine, use some aerosol gasket remover and remove all traces of the old gasket, slap the new gasket on with some RTV, and reattach the oil pan to the engine block. Not a whole lot to it.
The trouble lies in getting to it... on a lot of cars, you'll actually have to remove the engine from the engine compartment in order to do this.
Bottom of the oil pan.
are you sure its not rusted? cause me 92 Plymouth acclaim's oil pan rusted, and i had to get a new one. it only cost like 3-$400.
The oil filter is on the lower front of the engine.
You have to drain/remove the "transmission" oil pan to get access to the filter.

To replace the oil pan on a 1989 Plymouth Acclaim, start by draining the engine oil and removing the oil filter. Next, lift the vehicle and support it securely, then remove any components obstructing the oil pan, such as the exhaust or crossmember. Unscrew the oil pan bolts and gently pry the pan off, cleaning the mating surfaces. Install the new oil pan with a new gasket, torque the bolts to the specified settings, and refill the engine with oil.
To change the oil pump in a 1993 Plymouth Acclaim with a 2.5L engine, first ensure the car is securely raised and supported. Drain the oil and remove the oil pan by unbolting it from the engine block. Next, detach the old oil pump from the engine, typically by removing a few bolts. Install the new oil pump, reattach the oil pan, and refill with fresh oil before starting the engine to check for leaks.
