I would suggest taking a look at the "Related Questions" below - although most of the discussion focuses on 1996-1999 models, I suspect it's mostly applicable on into the later model years.

Assuming a DOHC 24 Duratec engine - the most problematic for getting at the rear plugs - don't be too hesitant to pull the upper intake manifold if it's going to make the job easier. That is what the key is for the earlier models.

Note: it would be most helpful is you could return here and add in what you find works on the 2002 - future visitors will be mighty grateful...
