How do you chage ignition switch on a 1997 Chevy pickup truck 4x4 1500?

i just had to do my 95 Chevy truck,,, the ignition is sold in 2 parts , there is the manual part ( the place were you put the key ) and the electrical part, that's the part that is like a wiring harness that goes from behind the key part down the steering colum and plugs into a harness,, mine took inverted tork sockets to get the steering covers off then i used a bent paper clip to push on a little hole you will see to pull out the key part of the ignition, be very carful of the little white peice you see with a little tab on it ,,, its part of the wireing harnes to the ignition ,, have to play with it a bit to get it off,, and the peice under the dash is tricky too,, make sure you pay attention as to how it comes apart as it needs to go back together the same way
