To change a light bulb in the instrument panel cluster of your 1988 Chevy G20 van, first disconnect the battery to ensure safety. remove the trim panel around the instrument cluster then remove cluster. On the back of instrument cluster are the bulbs just turn them half a turn and they come right out.
You can't you have to replace the whole dashboard instrument cluster assy.
You have to remove the instrument cluster to service the light bulbs.

Please be more specific--there is no such thing as an "engine light". There is a Check Engine Light or Service Engine Soon light. You have to remove the instrument cluster to replace the bulb for this or any other instrument light.
You will have to remove the instrument cluster. This may be an LED that should never have failed.
To change the high beam indicator you have to take the instrument cluster out of the dash.
What kind of vehicle? The light is most likely behind the instrument cluster. The instrument cluster would have to be removed to gain acces to the bulb.
You must remove the instrument cluster to do so.
The light switch could be bad. More than likely there is a short in the instrument panel cluster or a bad ground.
check the owners manual. if you have one with the nav display in the center of the dash you will reset it through there. There is no oil change light in the instrument cluster.
